The second Indian Expatriate Sports Meet organised by Youth Forum Qatar concluded at Al Arabi Sports Club with Vepex Qatar winning the overall championship and Thrisur Youth Club and Thrisur District Sauhrida Vedi came second and third respectively.
Youth Forum organised the Sports Meet in solidarity with the Qatar National Sports Day under the patronage of Qatar Olympic Committee and in collaboration with Al Arabi Sports Club. Hundreds of athletes affiliated to 18 different organizations of Keralites in Qatar competed in the meet which was included on the official programme list of Qatar Olympic Committee.
Dr Mohammad Al Hajri formally inaugurated the meet giving simple health tips to stay fit. Speaking at the ceremony, Ashfaq Ahmed, National President of S I O of India called the meet as a celebration of diversity. Dr Al Mubashir Aboobakar Abd Faraj, Communicable Diseases Control Supervisor at Supreme Council of Health, Kareem Abdulla, President of ICBF, K T Abdu Rahman, Acting President of Indian Islamic Association, K T Mubarak, Acting President of Youth Forum, Joppachan, President of Incas were also present.
Kannan of Thrissur Youth Club who secured 13 points became Individual Champion. Coming first in 100m race, Muhammad Nizar of QPA Qatar was declared the fastest of the meet.
