A Pakistan Military Band performance attracted a huge crowd at Katara yesterday. The band astonished the crowd with their flawless skills.
The Pakistani ambassador to Qatar, Shahzad Ahmad and Chairman Board of Governors of Pakistan International School (PIS), along with other dignitaries and embassy officials graced the event.
The band fascinated  audience by playing ceremonial and marching tunes including Pakistani patriotic songs. The national fervour and enthusiasm of Pakistani audience were at its peak particularly listening to the patriotic tunes played by the band. The musical tunes composed on popular local and national songs representing all the four provinces of Pakistan kept almost everyone at the edge of their seats.
It was the first performance by the Pakistani community at Katara.
“ Band is in Qatar for past few days,  and this is their third performance. One we did at Pakistan International School and another in Katara. We wanted to attract the international community, so we chose Katara as the venue. Everyone present here appreciated the performance, it was very encouraging,” Ambassador Ahmad told The Peninsula.
“We have many more events coming-up,  one will take place in February specially for the international community and other events will be held in March,” he added.
Many expats watched the ‘Military Band Performance’ at Katara Corniche street.
Lt. Col Ghulam Ali, Band Master of Military Pakistani Band said, “ I have 34years experience of composing music in addition to the experience of conducting the band for past 20 years. We have 51 members in our team and they are the best students.
“The journey of our international performances started in 2001, at a  Pakistan- China Friendship based event in China. This was followed by Brunei Darussalam in 2008, Kuala Lumpur in 2007, at National Day of Dubai 2014, in Moscow – Russia and South Africa-Cape town 2015. We enjoyed performing in Qatar, audience was quite welcoming. The response we receive from Pakistani community here is overwhelming but locals enjoying our performance is a pleasant surprise for us,” he said.
