Doha: More than Php60m worth of property and livestock investments were closed during the recent Philippine Agriculture, Livelihood and Reintegration Conference - Qatar (PALRECQ), organizers have said.
In addition, over 100 hectares of farmlands owned by Doha-based Filipinos have been enrolled in the various development programs of Magsasaka Inc, which is a division of DV Boer - a Philippine-based private farming company.
DV Boer also announced during the one-day event new finance facilities of up to Php2m for overseas Filipino workers who wish to come back to the Philippines.
More than 1,100 people attended PALRECQ, which is the fourth instalment of the Philippine Property and Investor Show – Qatar (PPISQ 2018) held on November 16 at InterContinental Doha The City, many of whom were overseas Filipinos preparing for their retirement in the Philippines.
“We are generally happy with the audience turnout this year and we are confident that we will surely have a better and bigger PPISQ in 2019 as it will be our fifth year in serving the Filipino business community in Qatar,” said Joseph Timothy Rivera, chairman of the Association of Filipino Realtors & Entrepreneur Executives in Qatar (AFREEQ).
Organized by AFREEQ and LiQha Creative Arts for the second consecutive year, the conference focused on relevant topics ranging from contemporary livestock farming opportunities to latest Philippine government initiatives for Filipino expats.
Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Charito B. Plaza spoke on the benefits of agro economic zone opportunities in the Philippines. It was followed by a presentation on the essentials for Filipino expats from proper lifestyle, savings, investment, reintegration and government support by Undersecretary Astravel Pimentel Naik, Executive Director of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).
An inspirational talk on practical and strategic networking opportunities was delivered by celebrity guest Eric Fructuoso, COO of StarNet and Arnel Cowley , StarNet Business Development Manager and husband of the late celebrity entrepreneur Isabel Granada.
Various agricultural investments and business opportunities were presented by DV Boer President Dexter Villamin and Magsasaka Director King Cortez. Also present to explain the prospects on microfinance was Gilbert Bugia, president of DV Microfinance while DV Boer Foundation President Sandy Santos presented comprehensive aspects on the company’s livestock stewardship programs.
A job fair for OFWS returning home who wish to work in the agricultural sector as well as legal consultancy for Filipino expats with idle agricultural lands was also conducted by the DV Boer legal team.
PALRECQ also provided the venue for the second Philippine Investment Forum presided by Plaza wherein comprehensive presentations were given before an audience of select local Arab businessmen.
The event also featured B2B sessions and bazaar. Several seminars from IMG, LEEDS, StarNet and DV Boer were held on November 17.
