A prominent Algerian artiste Nassima Shaaban (centre) performs Andalusian music at a concert at Katara Opera House on Tuesday.
DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation – Katara in cooperation with the Algerian Embassy in organised an Andalusian music concert at the Katara Opera House theatre on Tuesday.
Several diplomats and dignitaries watched the concert which witnessed heavy attendance by Andalusian music fans and visitors from different communities.
Algerian Ambassador Abdulaziz Al Sabaa praised the efforts of Katara to host the concert which featured prominent Algerian artiste Nassima Shaaban.
“I would like to convey my deepest gratitude to Katara for their constant cooperation and keenness to present the precious culture of Algeria and all other cultural events from all around the world,” said Al Sabaa.
Nassima Shaaban expressed her happiness to perform in Qatar for the first time after performing in many venues around the world.
“I am here to present this marvelous type of music in the best form which carries a message of peace to the world from our deep-rooted heritage which we inherited from our ancestors in Andalusia,” Shaaban said.
She added that she had acquired this type of art from the elderly generation and she is teaching it to the younger generation to preserve this valued heritage.
