Greetings sent to Zambia president

Doha: Deputy Emir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a cable of congratulations to Zambian President Edgar Lungu on his country’s Independence Day.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also sent a congratulatory cable to Lungu.

 

GCC environment ministers to meet


Doha: Qatar will host the GCC environment ministers on Wednesday as they meet regional and international organisations to discuss climate change, among other environmental topics. 
The undersecretaries of the GCC environment ministries will meet on Monday at St. Regis Hotel to discuss GCC environmental issues. Last week, the ministers met in Doha and discuss topics related to environment, with a focus on a web portal to connect GCC states and help them reach a more efficient management of chemical resources. QNA


Focus on Russian intervention in Syria


Doha: A one-day academic symposium ‘Russian Military Intervention in Syria: Motives, Objectives and Repercussions’ was hosted by Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies at Ritz-Carlton. It brought together experts from Russia, the Arab world and the region to examine the latest military intervention in Syria. It aimed to track implications of Russian intervention, consequences, motives and intended aims, in addition to understanding expected reactions in light of regional developments. It also discussed Arab and regional stances on developments and expected regional and global implications.
