DOHA: Many nationals have expressed mixed views on a move by the Aspire Zone Foundation and Qatar Charity to set up marriage tents for free of cost reported an Arabic daily yesterday.
Aspire Logistics, one of the strategic business units of Aspire Zone Foundation has signed an agreement with Qatar Charity for this purpose. According to the agreement, Aspire will build three big marriage tents with all amenities. The marriage tents will be ready by December.
Dr Ameena Al Anhail, psychologist said: “One of the reasons that are delaying marriages is the high expenses that go beyond QR200,000 in addition to other financial obligations.
“The government should provide places to establish such marriage tents. These initiatives should support and encourage marriages and national companies can play a role in this by building wedding halls and rent out them at a low price,” she further said.
Hassan Al Hussai, another commentator said wedding halls are one fact that delay marriage. But such initiative should be generalized in different residential areas. For someone living in Al Khor is difficult to come to the Aspire for his wedding.”
However, some Qatari nationals believe that many nationals might not appreciate the initiative.
“I don’t expect that many young Qataris will like this initiative, because they prefer to have weddings in special halls, which suits family and social status. We don’t need tents for weddings; we need halls which are cheaper than hotels,” said Suhad Al Kuwari ,
“Hotels costs around QR100,000 and some families insist to take weddings in specific hotels in specific areas,” Al Kuwari further said.
