Qatar Summer Festival’s (QSF) Summer Entertainment City is all set to welcome acclaimed Filipino artistes Gloc-9 and Jona Viray to stage a memorable performance as part of its offerings for the Eid Al Adha holidays.
Titled “OPM Masters”, the show expected to be the biggest Filipino concert of the year, will be held on September 2 at 8pm in Doha Exhibition and Convention Center’s Hall 5, where the Summer Entertainment City is located.
“This is Gloc-9’s third time in Doha while it will be Jona’s first time to feature in a concert here which is part of QSF Summer Entertainment City’s closing series of shows,” said Jassim Mohammed, CEO of Red Apple Events and Media, organisers of the concert.
The two-hour concert is expected to enthrall music lovers at the 4,500 capacity venue with its rich and varied repertoire. “It will be a mix of mellow and rap music set in a spectacular production teeming with exciting and unique audiovisual experience for the audience,” said Mohammed.
An award winning Filipino rapper, Gloc-9 is known for his fast flowing vocal style making one of the most successful hip-hop artistes in the Philippines dubbed as “a blacksmith of words and letters and a true Filipino poet.”
Having joined singing competitions from a tender age, Jona Viray, who is also an occasional actress, has won many accolades locally and internationally including the first Pinoy Pop Superstar Grand Winner and the Female Solo Industry Award in the World Championship of Performing Arts in Hollywood, USA. On what people can expect from the show, Red Herrera, Operations Manager at QSports, organisers of Summer Entertainment City, said the concert will be a memorable one.
“Gloc-9 has so many surprises in his pocket. Though he may be performing similar songs like he did before, I’m sure he will be performing them with new flavour for his fans and the new audience,” said Herrera.
A survey was done in the Filipino community for the organizers to decide on which artistes to feature in the show, said Mohammed.
“Gloc-9 hits the target market for mostly male segment while Jona Viray is hits the female segment. We have high hopes of getting these market segments of Filipinos,” said Herrera.
In preparation for the concert, there will be auditions today and tomorrow from 2pm to 11pm at Summer Entertainment City for those who have talent in singing, rapping and dancing for a chance to perform with Gloc-9 and Jona Viray, organisers announced.
Tickets are priced QR65 (Silver), QR115 (Gold) and QR215 (VIP which includes meet and greet with the artistes). All concert ticket holders are also entitled for an all-day free entry to the Summer Entertainment City.
“We invite you to come to Summer Entertainment City which opens at 2pm. It takes approximately four hours to go through the 85 attractions for families so make some time for that,” said Michael Stellwag, CEO of Silverfox Digital Communications.
