DOHA: As part of its ongoing commitment to building national capacity in environmental science, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change—represented by the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department—is organising a summer training programme for students from Qatar University’s Department of Environmental and Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences.

Running from June 15 to August 7, 2025, the programme aims to strengthen students’ analytical and research skills by introducing them to scientific research methodologies and familiarizing them with real-world applications of their academic studies.

The training includes hands-on exposure to the department’s field operations that focus on protecting the local environment. Students are actively engaged in sampling and monitoring activities across terrestrial and marine ecosystems to assess environmental compliance with national standards. They are also being trained in writing professional field environmental reports.

In addition, the programme offers practical laboratory workshops where students learn to analyse environmental samples using advanced chemical and biological testing equipment. Emphasis is placed on the importance of data accuracy and alignment with approved environmental indicators.

To provide a well-rounded experience, the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department has arranged scheduled field visits and guided tours of its various divisions and laboratories. This ensures a comprehensive blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application in the field of environmental monitoring.
