Qatar Credit Bureau announced yesterday the launch of a new service that provides credit reports online. The new service coincided with celebrating the bureau’s 10-year anniversary, in an event attended by Governor of Qatar Central Bank, H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Saoud Al Thani.
The new service is part of larger efforts to develop Qatar Credit Bureau’s systems, which includes a host of new digital services that will not need paper processing.
Commenting on the occasion, CEO of Qatar Credit Bureau, Sheikha Maryam bint Khalifa Al Thani said that the bureau plays an important role in supporting financial stability in the state. She noted that the new services, which will launch Sunday, will enhance the bureau’s role in supporting the financial system and providing accurate and comprehensive credit information.
She noted that the bureau’s credit information system was recognized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in many fields such as cybersecurity systems and business continuity.
She added that the bureau is currently working on increasing the number of its members, as well as providing more data that would be useful given the growth of the local economy and the expansion of a number of small and medium enterprises.
Qatar Credit Bureau issued around 370,000 reports to its member institutions that included 322,000 reports on their transactions with individuals, and another 26,000 reports on their transactions with other companies. The bureau also issued 33,000 credit reports for individuals.
