Doha: The Qatar Foundation (QF) schools production Showtime is set to return to the stage, with performances taking place from March 2-4 . Themed “Musicals at the Movies”, this year Showtime will also feature an original song by Qatari composer Dana Al Fardan titled “Now or Never”.

Tickets, which cost QR150, are available to purchase from Q Tickets.

The performances will take place in the PUE Theater, in Education City, on Thursday, March 2, at 7.30pm; Friday,  March 3, at 2.30pm and 7.30pm; and Saturday, March 4, at 7.30pm.

This year, the production is set to feature 50 students and 15 staff members from a number of Qatar Foundation Pre-University Education (PUE) schools, including Qatar Academy Doha, Qatar Academy Al Wakra, Qatar Academy Msheireb, Qatar Music Academy, Awsaj Academy, Tariq Bin Ziad School, and Qatar Academy for Science and Technology.

Alongside Al Fardan’s “Now or Never”, extracts and medleys from hit shows such as Grease, Queen, and Aladdin will be showcased, in both English and Arabic.

Fatima El Mahdi, Manager of Student Enrichment, Qatar Foundation, said: “When Showtime first burst onto the scene during the years of remote and blended education, it served as a refreshing break from the long hours students and staff were spending behind a screen.

“Now, in our second year of in-person performances, this ‘refreshing break’ is transforming the performing arts scene in Qatar Foundation schools and beyond. Students and staff come out of rehearsals smiling, with a bounce in their step and a song on their lips. We can’t wait for the live shows.

“Qatar Foundation schools are truly unique, offering a range of exceptional learning opportunities to their students – and staff members – and Showtime is one of the best examples of this.”

Director Chris Piper returns to the production this year, leading a team of performing arts experts, and once again Showtime will be supported by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra – a member of QF.
