Doha: As part of its participation in religious activities, Ezdan Mall hosted famous American lecturer Sheikh Yusuf Estes, in collaboration with RAF Foundation.
Estes delivered a lecture ‘Family, Friends and Faith’ in which he spoke about the importance of the family system in building the Muslim community.
On the sidelines, recreational and entertainment activities were held for children, with the participation of Nasheed band. Competitions were organised and the prizes offered to the winners.
Estes (Joseph Edward Estes) is an American preacher who was born in Texas in 1944 and converted to Islam in 1991.
He is renowned for his frequent presence in advocacy events and activities.
Throughout his permanent tours around the world, he delivered lectures and made significant accomplishments.
His openness to other religions enabled him to fruitfully define Islam and call followers of different religions to know about Islamic virtues.
Estes spares no effort to participate in seminars, debates and TV programmes that address Islam and promote it.
Although he has a prominent presence in the West, he enjoys outstanding reputation in Arab countries and the Muslim world. He was named the Islamic Personality of 2012 at the 16th Dubai International Holy Quran Award for his preaching about the true image of Islam in the West.
Malik Qaiser, General Manager, Ezdan Mall, said Ezdan is always keen to support religious activities and events and spares no effort to promote cultural activities for the public, adding that this was not the first time Ezdan organised such activity in collaboration with RAF Foundation.
The event was held in Ezdan Mall Al Gharafa, which was opened in mid-April 2013.
