Doha: The Editor-in-Chief of The Peninsula Dr. Khalid Mubarak Al-Shafi received yesterday the Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Qatar H E Timmy T Davis, in his office.
During the meeting they discussed cooperation between the US embassy in Doha and the newspaper in promoting the interest of the two countries and covering of events.
Dr. Al-Shafi and Ambassador Davis also discussed the news coverage of the daily, and its online and print services in Qatar and outside Qatar.
Editor-in-Chief briefed the Ambassador about the evolution of the newspaper over the past two decades since its establishment and its mission, vision and the role of the newspaper’s website.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Davis in a tweet emphasised his keenness to work with journalists in Qatar. “Thank you to @PeninsulaQatar Editor in Chief @Drkalshafi for the visit to your newsroom today. Always glad to work with Qatar’s journalists,” Ambassador Davis said in his tweet.
For his part the Dr. Al-Shafi said in a tweet that, “It was my pleasure to welcome His Excellency the Ambassador of the friendly country, the United States of America @USAmbQatar to my office at The Peninsula newspaper, where we discussed journalism and its great role in building relations and enhancing cooperation.”
