Qatar attends judicial conference in Riyadh

Riyadh: The State of Qatar participated in the proceedings of the Second International Judicial Conference which kicked off yesterday in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the patronage of  Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud,.

The delegation of Qatar was headed by Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi.

In a speech on this occasion, the Minister affirmed the importance of Qatar attaches to achieving quality in judicial work and its firm commitment to developing the justice system. This commitment has contributed to the State of Qatar topping the latest indicators of the quality of litigation procedures in the annual Doing Business report issued by the World Bank Group.

Al Mohannadi noted the positive results achieved in light of the initiatives and programs of the National Initiative for the Development of Justice Systems, the enhancement of the digital justice track, and the establishment of the Investment and Commerce Court.

He stated that this conference constitutes an important international platform for exchanging successful experiences and building legal partnerships that contribute to facing the emerging and changing challenges confronting the justice sectors.

The Minister highlighted the conference’s agenda, which includes a program full of sessions and workshops aimed at raising the efficiency of judicial human resources, developing standards and indicators for measuring judicial quality, in addition to discussing alternative dispute resolution methods and their role in achieving quality and making justice more flexible.

He also pointed to the important role of the legal profession in supporting judicial quality by promoting professionalism and developing legal work mechanisms.

Al Mohannadi explained that digital transformation has become a fundamental pillar in raising the level of judicial quality, as modern technologies facilitate procedures and improve communication between the parties in the justice system, thereby achieving efficiency, transparency, and community trust in the legal system.

He stressed the necessity of utilizing modern mechanisms for international judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters, especially in light of the increasing global trade movement, the overlapping of legislations, and rapid technological development. In this regard, he commended the level of legal partnership and judicial cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Al Mohannadi emphasized the importance of enhancing preventive justice through legal systems that prevent disputes before they occur, providing a stable legal environment that supports economic and social development.
