Olympia, Greece: A backup Olympic flame was used Tuesday in Ancient Olympia after unsuitable weather forced the cancellation of a traditional lighting ceremony using the sun's rays.

The Olympic flame will now make its long journey toward the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, which begin on February 9.

Greek officials had successfully conducted the final rehearsal for the kindling of the Olympic flame on Sunday in sunny skies and it was this one that was used in the ceremony at the birthplace of the ancient Olympics.
