DOHA: A reception and an open house were held at the Indonesian ambassador’s residence on Eid Al Fitr day, attended by about 300 guests, including heads of diplomatic missions.
The event hosted by Ambassador Deddy Saiful Hadi and his wife Endang Deddy Hadi was also attended by embassy staff, their families and Indonesian diaspora in Qatar.
Several ambassadors and their spouses from Asian, African and European countries, including Belgium, Georgia, Japan, Moldova, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa, Tajikistan, Thailand, Ukraine and Vietnam, were present.
They enjoyed Indonesian culinary and sweets.
Earlier, more than 1,000 Indonesian Muslims diaspora, together with Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Arab and Qatari community members performed Eid prayers organised by the embassy in collaboration with Indonesian Muslims Society at Tariq Bin Ziyad Preparatory Independent School for Boys on July 17. The prayers were led by Indonesian Imam Ustadz Farid Haqiqi and Khatib Ustadz Amir Rambe.
Hadi regretted over being unable to attend the event as he joined worshipers at the prayer grounds in Al Wajba Palace and later well-wishers Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received to mark the occasion.
Hadi’s message and Eid greetings were read out by Yusuf Suryanegara, Counsellor and Head, Protocol and Consular Affairs at the embassy.
