Kigali: The President of the sisterly Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame said that the State of Qatar, under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is at the forefront of finding solutions to some of the most urgent challenges of the day, from energy security to humanitarian response in the Middle East and the global fight against corruption.
In his speech in front of the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Kagame said that he could not have thought of a better person rather than the Amir to invite as a very special guest of the Commonwealth meeting.
He stated that "HH the Amir is a friend and a partner to so many of us, and his country has deep historical ties to the Commonwealth".
"The Commonwealth does not replace other institutions. It adds to them and that is why we always have special important guests with us. Let me recognize in particular HH the Amir of Qatar," said Kagame.
The Rwandan leader expressed his appreciation for the Amir's acceptance of his invitation to attend the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
