The new strain does not cause different symptoms, but it is more likely to spread among individuals, and some evidence indicates that the new strain may cause severe disease, he added.

We still need more time until all members of society are vaccinated and we have given more than 650,000 doses of the vaccine.

“Number of cases of Covid-19 infection is still increasing due to the emergence of the new strain, which appeared in the United Kingdom and then spread over the world, and the failure to observe precautionary measures by some in the society.

The new strain is more widespread among individuals than the old strain,” Dr Al Khal added.
