Doha: This year’s InterContinental Squash Championship is likely to witness a surge in the number of participants, organisers of the event said here yesterday.
The tournament organisers said the number of entries received so far have exceeded the number of participants who took part in the previous editions.
“The preparation for hosting the tournament has been complete. The courts have been renovated and Intercontinental Doha has increased the prizes for the winners. We are happy to see the tournament is getting bigger every year,” said Asela Jayaweera, Recreation Manager at InterContinental Doha.
The 11th InterContinental Squash Championship will be held from April 11 to 15. The five-day championship will be hosted at the InterContinental Doha Squash courts and is organised by Qatar Squash Federation.
The tournament will be contested in the following ten categories: Boys Under-9, Boys Under-11, Boys Under-13, Boys Under-15, Boys Under-17, Men’s level B, Men’s Level A, Men’s over-45, Ladies and Men’s Professionals.
