Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Municipality officially inaugurated its 2026 Ramadan Football Tournament on Sunday, at the Al Sadd Sports Club fields. Featuring teams representing various sectors of the Ministry and different municipalities, the event opened in a highly competitive atmosphere reflecting a strong spirit of cooperation among employees. The tournament is scheduled to continue through the official brackets until early March.
The tournament began with significant momentum as teams faced off in the opening fixtures. In a dominant performance, the Agriculture and Food Security Sector team defeated Doha Municipality with a score of 6–1, while Al Khor Municipality secured a hard-fought 5-3 victory against Al Rayyan Municipality. These initial results set a competitive tone for the remainder of the competition, which will proceed according to the approved schedule leading up to the final match.
This tournament serves as a key initiative in the Ministry’s broader strategy to promote physical wellness and enhance athletic activity among its staff. By organising such events, the Ministry of Municipality aims to foster stronger ties between employees from different departments.
