Manila: An earthquake measuring 6 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Davao Occidental province in southern Philippines on Tuesday.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said that the tectonic quake was 316 km southeast of Balut Island in Sarangani, at a depth of 10 km.
The institute warned of aftershocks of the earthquake.
There were no reports of casualties or material damage as a result of the earthquake.
The Philippines is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire where about 90 percent of the world's earthquakes occur.
