Doha: World countries are marking International Day of Education on today (Jan 24), under the slogan: “To invest in people, prioritise education”.
On December 18, 2018, the UN General Assembly ratified a decision in which it announced that Jan 24 of each year would be dedicated to marking the international day of education, within the framework of celebrating the education for peace and development.
The ratification of this decision demonstrated the consolidated political will to support the measures of making change for the sake of comprehensive, fair and good education for all. Through this initiative, the international community has reiterated that education undertakes a foundational role in building sustainable and flexible communities and achieving all other sustainable development goals.
Education in the State of Qatar is one of the most critical pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030, thanks to its wise leadership that always underlines the criticality of human element as a core source of development.
Qatar supports funding the education both at the national and global levels, and places utmost importance on education. This is demonstrated in its commitment to Qatari and world students by taking a conscious decision in education, because it believes in education as the pillar of social growth, specially that the State of Qatar is part and parcel of the global environmental system.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres underlined that education is one of the core human rights, and a bedrock for communities.
