DOHA: The Falcon Festival organizing committee said yesterday that the Al Mazain falconry competition has been postponed and the concluding ceremony will take place on January 31. It was originally scheduled for January 30.
Hudadud Tahaddi competition for 18th group was held yesterday and for 19th group will take place today.
The committee approved a proposal by some participants to reduce the distance for Hudadud Tahaddi competition from 100 meters to 80 meters, said Ali Sultan Al Hamidi, Head of Hudadud Tahaddi contest in a statement.
The committee has set up a box to receive proposals and complaints from the participants and it is ready to make the necessary changes based on the proposals, he added.
“I am participating for the first time in this falcon festival and I choose Hudadud Tahadi because it is a strong contest and popular among the youths,” said a participant, Abdullah bin Khalid Al Kaabi. “I am a regular participant of this festival. My falcon won twice consecutively,” said another participant, Abdullah Ali Al Mansuri.
Competitions of baby falcons are also part of the festival.
It aims to educate children (aged six to seven years) about basics of falconry to preserve this hobby of our forefathers, said Saleh Mohammad Al Kuwari, Head of Al Mazain and Baby Falcon committee. The Peninsula
