QNA

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change concluded the ‘Avicennia: History, Culture and Wealth’ event, which was launched on November 1 as part of the activities of Doha as the Capital of Culture in the Islamic World.

The cultural event included an exhibition of pictures of the Avicennia plant, including its definition, ways to use it, preserve it, and its role in protecting the environment, as well as its connection to the Qatari environmental cultural heritage.

The organisation of the exhibition came within the framework of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change’s awareness and guidance plans, which emphasise the importance of informing community groups about environmental issues and problems, and to complement its efforts to encourage community partnership in tree-planting operations and achieving sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The exhibition contributed to broadcasting awareness messages that reflect the efforts of Avicennia cultivation and its environmental role in promoting sustainable development. The exhibition received a wide turnout of families, interested persons, individuals and lovers of environmental nature. The exhibition, organised by the Department of the Ministry of Environment  in the Katara Cultural Village, coincided with the Traditional Dhow Festival and the country’s National Day celebrations.
