Moscow: The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has restored its external power supply after 30 days of off-site power loss, the plant's press service said Thursday.
The 750 kilovolt high-voltage transmission line at ZNPP was reconnected following repair work, while efforts to restore a second 330 kilovolt line are still underway, according to the statement.
The International Atomic Energy Agency facilitated coordination between Russia and Ukraine to ensure safe conditions for the repair, the press service said, adding that the plant hopes such cooperation will continue during the restoration of the second power line.
The ZNPP lost its connection to the grid on Sept. 23 for the 10th time since the conflict began, after its last remaining 750 kilovolt power line was cut. Since then, the plant has been powered by backup diesel generators. Both Russia and Ukraine have blamed the damage on military activity.
The Zaporizhzhia plant, one of Europe's largest nuclear facilities, has been under Russian control since March 2022.
