DOHA: It was raining in some parts of Al Shahaniya later yesterday afternoon, the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning said on its Facebook account.
Rains have lashed northwestern parts of Al Shahaniya, the civic ministry posted comment on its Facebook account at around 4pm.
The rains were accompanied with active wind which might throw up dust in the air, the ministry said quoting the Meteorology Department.
Visibility will, therefore, be low. However, routine forecast issued by the Met office for up to 6am today said the weather will be partly cloudy with scattered rains in some areas.
The day will later become hazy and humid. Offshore, it will be partly cloudy with chances of scattered rains.
The direction of the wind inshore will be northeasterly to northerly with speed reaching up to 18km an hour at times. The minimum speed of the wind will be about five km an hour.
Offshore, the direction of the wind will be northeasterly to southeasterly and it will be moving at speeds from 8km an hour to roughly 20km an hour.
Visibility will be between four and eight km and sea will be calm.
Meanwhile, the seven municipalities in the country are prepared to tackle any emergency arising from sudden rains.
They have released rainwater emergency telephone numbers for people to contact them for draining of logged rainwater from roads, homes and open grounds, or any other help related to rainwater.
