An archer in action during the second Al Nashaab Horseback Archery Championship.
Doha: Abdulla Amjad Al Jumaili astride Fajer, and Metib Ali Al Kubaisi on his mount ‘Salil Almajd’ emerged as the Senior and Youth category champions of the second Al Nashaab Horseback Archery Championship organised by the Qatar Equestrian Federation and Modern Pentathlon (QEF&MP) and held at the Longines Arena of Al Shaqab.
The exciting and eye-catching events saw the participation of 16 highly-skilled riders.
There were two kind of competitions: Serial Style (Where a horseback rider gallops at a distance and attempts to hit the target), and Qabaq Style (where riders have to get the target at the top of a column).
Windy conditions added to the difficulty of these competitions but displaying amazing anticipation and aim, Al Jumaili topped the Senior category scoring 380pts. Bader Mubarak Al Marri on ‘Abroud Alzubara’ was second with 370pts while Abdulaziz Ali Al Qahtani on ‘Mokhlis’ with 360pts came third.
In the Youth category (12-15yrs), Metib Ali Al Kubaisi on horse ‘Salil Almajd’ emerged best with 380pts, followed by Mohammed Abdulla Al Hajri on ‘Ghazwan Alshajaa’ 370pts, and Saad Abdulla Al Jumaili astride ‘Alshuhob’ 370pts.
