Temperature expected to drop from Monday night

Doha: The temperature is expected to drop from Monday night onwards and the cold spell is expected to last till Saturday, January 30.

The Meteorology department said that there will be a noticeable drop in temperature from Monday night until Saturday and the maximum temperature will range between 18 – 21 ° C in Doha and the minimum will range between 12 – 14 ° C and less than 10 ° C at southern and open areas.
It is expected that the these days will be affected by an extension of the Siberian high pressure system accompanied by fresh to strong Northwesterly wind over all areas with the speed ranging between 20 – 30 knots inshore and 25 – 35 knots offshore gusting up to 45 knots at times and high seas waves ranging from 9 – 13 feet reaching 16 feet at places.
With the occurrence of a low pressure at the upper levels between Wednesday evening and Friday will help the formation of scattered clouds that may lead to light rain at places.
The Met also said that there is chance of blowing dust during strong winds that may bring the horizontal visibility down to 2 km or less, especially in open areas.
Meteorological Administration in their statement warned people to exercise caution and avoid cruises for sea-goers during high winds.
