The Qatar National Day celebrations displayed patriotic fervour with the entire nation bustling with much activity from the Corniche to the Darb El Saai traditional camp in Al Sadd.

At the Darb El Saai traditional camp, thousands of people witnessed a whole range of heritage activities and sights highlighting ancient Qatari customs and traditions to citizens and expatriates alike.  From desert animals and marine life to traditional handicraft, food and hobbies, the camp provided visitors a glimpse into Qatar’s past which the government tries to preserve for the future.

The camp comprised sections such as Al Izbba (where men look after the camels), Al Nasa (shooting gallery), Al Shaqab (an area for horse shows, riding and dressage), Al Doha (expo for government agencies), Al Maqlat (food court), Al Maqtar (desert activities), Al Hafeez (vintage cars expo), Housh Al Yahal (kids’ yard), Souq Waqif (traditional handicraft) and Al Beda (Qatari marine heritage).
