HMC grants staff to visit families affected by floods

DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation has granted emergency leave to Somali and Filipino staff who need to check on their families back home affected by floods.

Also a fundraising initiative was launched in an event supporting Qatar Solidarity Day with the People of Somalia and Philippine as part of the effort led by Qatar Red Crescent and major charity organizations in Qatar to relieve the victims of the disasters in both countries.

Dr Yusif Al Moslimani, Medical Director, Hamad General Hospital, said: “Qatar is mobilising efforts to support the people of Somalia and the Philippines in coordination with all local charities.”

“Members of the Somali and Filipino community are an integral part of HMC’s workforce. We stand together to get over this harsh period. Therefore, HMC decided to give them vacations to check on their family members”, he added.

QRC’s Public Affairs Advisor Adel Al Baker also expressed his confidence in all supporters and charities that focus their work on the relief of vulnerable communities and humanitarian services. He highlighted the organizational side of relief campaigns and that the five committees that have been formed are working in an orchestrated manner to facilitate communications with donors and offices abroad.The Peninsula
