Position: Managing Editor
A leading media organization in Qatar seeks an experienced Managing Editor to join our team. The successful candidate will be extremely well-organized and deadline driven, thrive on multitasking and enjoy managing and developing new talent, as well as being a part of a fast-moving creative team. The primary focus of this role is to oversee all scheduling and editorial as well as manage the team of editors through the day.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Hiring, managing, and training the editorial team, always with an eye toward developing the company’s current employees into future leaders.
• Working with the editorial, production and design teams to set priorities and create and maintain standards.
• Implementing best practices for all workflow and titles produced.
• Streamlining and prioritizing of editorial production duties to achieve the most efficient and accurate processes and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Established editorial experience at least 15 years.
• Must have experience working in Middle East or Gulf region.
• Experience as Managing Editor or Deputy Managing Editor.
• Management or supervisory experience.
• Age should be between 40 – 50 Years.
• A solid track record of performance and advancement.
• Exceptional understanding of schedules and a respect for balancing deadlines with quality.
• Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally at all levels of seniority.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple high-priority projects.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of newspapers’ style and copyediting/proofreading standards.
• Knowledge of an InDesign workflow.
