Doha, Qatar: Qatar participated with a student delegation in the fourth session of the Arab Parliament for the Child (APC), which was hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates recently, alongside student delegations from various Arab countries.
The Qatari student delegation included Fahad Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Malki, Abdulrahman Ali Mohammed Al Yerbooi, Taraf Abdullah Salem Al Afifa, and Maryam Ali Abdullah Al Namlan.
The students began their speeches by offering prayers for the late Father Amir, in recognition of his national and humanitarian legacy, drawing inspiration from his well-known statements emphasising the importance of investing in people and education as a fundamental pillar for building nations.
The Qatari delegation actively participated in the parliament’s sessions and committee meetings, alongside a parallel programme aimed at developing participants’ leadership and parliamentary skills. The programme included visits to youth centres affiliated with the ‘Rubu Qarn’ for Creating Leaders and Innovators; participating in the ‘My Family… My First Story’ workshop organised by the Child Safety Foundation, as well as attendance at training workshops organised by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). The students also took part in specialised parliamentary practice training and a number of cultural and honorary events that provided opportunities to interact and exchange experiences with their peers from various Arab countries.
The session concluded with the fourth and final meeting held under the theme: ‘The Role of the Family in Building a Safe Environment for the Child.’ The session discussed the pivotal role of the family in shaping a child’s personality, instilling values, promoting a culture of dialogue, and providing a safe and stimulating environment for growth. It resulted in a set of recommendations supporting children’s rights and development.
Qatar’s participation in this session reflects its continued commitment to developing students’ capabilities, strengthening their participation in international forums, and investing in their early years. This contributes to preparing a generation that possesses awareness and responsibility, capable of representing the country at regional and international platforms.
