PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved Rs30m for procurement of 1,500 ballistic helmets for police department.
The police had requested the government to provide 1,500 ballistic helmets to the department to secure the lives of the law enforcers in the wake of growing targeted attacks on them in the province.
Requesting provision of ballistic helmets, the provincial police officer had written a letter to the government, saying that owing to the nature of police duty and its role the department remained the foremost target of the militants.
According to police, attacks on police officials will increase manifold in the wake of the on-going military operation against militants in North Waziristan Agency.
