Qatar calls for curbing organised crime and terrorism

Vienna:  The State of Qatar has called for making use of all capabilities in confronting and curbing the criminal challenges of organised crime, corruption, drugs, money laundering and terrorism.
This came in a speech delivered by  Major General Dr Abdullah Yusuf Al Mal, advisor to the Interior Minister, at the opening of the 26th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which started in the Austrian capital and continues until May 26 .
Dr Al Mal welcomed the efforts made by Member States to implement the Doha Declaration of the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, hosted by the State of Qatar in April 2015.
He underscored the importance of launching the global program for the implementation of the recommendations of the Doha Declaration in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and funding its projects for youth crime prevention through sport, rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners, education for justice, in addition to the integrity of the judiciary and the prevention of corruption.
He also pointed out that the State of Qatar has allocated an annual award in the name of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in line with international efforts to achieve integrity, transparency and fighting corruption.
