Doha: The Qatar beach handball team will begin their title-defence in the Asian Men’s Beach Handball Championship when they take on the Philippines in their opening match of the eighth edition of the continental event in Tehran, Iran, today.
Besides Qatar and their opening opponents, hosts Iran, Oman, Vietnam and India are also participating in the event.
Qatar will take on Oman tomorrow in their second match and will meet India on March 25 before taking on Vietnam the next day.
Qatar will face hosts Iran on March 28.
The champions as well as the runners-up in Iran will qualify for the World Championships in Greece.
Qatar were crowned Asian champions in China in 2019, after recording a 2-0 win over Oman in the final.
