DOHA: Siemens, the global powerhouse in electronics and electrical engineering operating in the energy, infrastructure, industry and healthcare sectors, has signed an agreement with Qatar-based Manweir, a provider of manufacturing and repair services to the oil and gas industry, to strengthen its local presence in the Gulf emirate and service its customers faster and better.
The agreement enables Siemens to provide servicing for its clients in Qatar’s oil and gas sector at Manweir’s new workshop in Ras Laffan, an industrial hub 80km north of Doha.
The newly inaugurated, 46,000 sq metre Manweir facility will service Siemens compressors and steam turbines for the oil and gas industry. The service centre is certified by Siemens and all maintenance activities will be supervised by representatives from the company.
“Our agreement with Manweir will help reduce service times for a wide range of compressors and industrial steam turbines,” said Hamad Al Khayyat, General Manager, Oil and Gas Division, Siemens WLL Qatar. “Providing rapid response and fast turnaround of on and off-site repairs will enable our customers in Qatar to keep both planned and unplanned downtime to a minimum.”
The Manweir service center is divided into multiple function areas, including an operations office and a maintenance workshop, as well as equipment storage and training areas. It also features a greater variety and quantity of spare parts and a comprehensive improvement in operational processes, maintenance reception capability and service levels.
