923 companies banned for violating laws

Doha: The restructured Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs has banned 923 companies last year for violating the labour law, shows data released by the ministry.

The ministry conducted 56, 724 inspections during the year and recorded 673 violations of the law. A total of 28, 085 companies were covered by the inspections.
The Labour relations department at the ministry received job-related complaints from 6054 workers during the year. Majority of the complaints were related to air tickets and end of service allowance. Other major complaints were related to non-payment of leave salary and delays in payment of wages.
Of the total complaints, 4107 were settled while 1283 complaints were held up for further investigation and 644 cases referred to the court.
