Doha: The Syrian Embassy in Qatar has presented a painting by Syrian artist Akram Sweidan to Qatar, as part of Qatar National Day celebrations, and in recognition of Qatar’s support for the cause of the Syrian people.

The Embassy said in a press statement that the new artwork translates the feelings of the Syrian people towards the brotherly Qatari people for their support and standing with Syria.

The painting is made of natural wood using several styles such as Islamic, geometric and dotting motifs which are considered the closest to Damascene art.

For his part, Syrian artist Akram Sweidan expressed his desire to participate in the joys of the Qatari people on the National Day, through a painting entitled “The National Day of the State of Qatar”, his new creative work in which he used the art of dotting that is exclusive to the city of Damascus and is called Damascene paint or Al Ajami.

The Syrian artist expressed his pride of Qatar’s support towards Syria, stressing that Qatar is one of the most important and prominent countries that allocated and embraced the Syrian revolution with many of the attested stances in support of the Syrian people and provided them with all means to end the continuing human suffering.
