For the fifth year in a row, ADLQ hosts the annual Junior Scientists’ Symposium in order to give young researchers and scientists the opportunity to present and discuss their work.

The one-day symposium is one of a kind platform which is aimed at supporting and encouraging the local talents in the field of Scientific research.

Dr Mohammed Ghanim Al Maadheed, Chairman of the ADLQ Board of Trustees , has opened up the sessions by emphasising on the importance of research and the value of persistence in order to reach the answers they are seeking.

Al Maadeed has thanked all involved in the establishment and development of this symposium which was merely an idea back in 2011, if not for the efforts made by Dr Mohammed Alsayrfai, General manager of ADLQ, and Dr Vidya Mohamed Ali , Director of the Life Sciences Research Division in ADLQ.

The symposium aims at connecting together the scientists and researchers locally and abroad, in addition to reinforcing excellence in research.

Many important local institutes have participated in the symposium like : Qatar University, Weil Cornell Medical College Qatar, Hamad Medical Corporation and others. A lot of international institutes have joined in like: Groningen University from Holland, Bristol University and UCL from UK.

Professor David Lomas, Vice-Provost ( Health ) at University College of London, has expressed his pleasure of the continuity of this program. He has also announced the appointment of Dr Al Maadheed as Visiting Professor in University College of London which is the first to be given to a Qatari scientist by this university in appreciation of his efforts in the field.
