Ministry of Trade and Industry has intensified its inspection campaigns and registered 68 violations by companies and shops recently.
“The inspection campaigns come within the framework of Ministry's keenness to regulate and monitor markets and commercial activities in the country,” it said in a post on social media.
61 of those violations were non-compliance with the conditions related to public health and safety for the consumer, while the other 7 were for selling face masks and sterilizers that do not conform to standard specifications.
The Ministry affirmed that it will be firm with all those who neglect the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations, and it will intensify its inspection campaigns to monitor suppliers who are not following laws.
Violating Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection invites penalties ranging from administrative closure to fines from three thousand riyals to one million riyals.
