New Delhi: The union cabinet yesterday decided to bring an ordinance to resolve the issue of coal block allocation, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said here.
Jaitley told the media after a meeting of the cabinet that the central government would recommend promulgation of the ordinance to President Pranab Mukherjee.
“The cabinet has recommended promulgation of ordinance to the president in order to resolve the pending issues particularly the situation arising out of a Supreme Court judgment quashing allocation of coal blocks,” he said.
The cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
India, Germany hold foreign office consultations
New Delhi: India and Germany held their annual Foreign Office Consultations here yesterday during which both sides discussed, besides other bilateral matters, the Hannover Fair next year and ways to ensure successful participation by India at this major industrial technological fair.
Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and State Secretary in the German Federal Foreign Office Markus Ederer held the annual Foreign Office Consultations.
The primary focus of discussion was the schedule for high-level activities during 2015, official sources said.
India and Germany will hold the biennial Inter-Governmental Commission meeting in the second half of 2015.
This will be headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The two officials discussed efforts to ensure that the approach to be followed would be of outcome based one with tangible and concrete deliverables, the sources said.
