UK-Pakistani billionaire and son among five onboard missing Titanic submarine

Doha, Qatar: British-Pakistani billionaire Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, along with three other passengers, are reported to have been among the people in the submarine that went missing while exploring the Titanic wreckage. 

According to BBC, a rescue team has been sent to locate the tourist submersible Titan, which is running out of oxygen by the minute.

The OceanGate Expeditions operated a 6.5 meter (21- foot) submarine that began its journey on Sunday but went completely off-course within approximately two hours.

Shahzada Dawood is among the most successful businessman in Pakistan and boasts a strong presence in the UK. 

According to BBC, he lived with his wife Christine and daughter for a month in Canada before the dive. 

Dawood studied in the University of Buckingham, England as well as in Philadelphia, USA. 
According to Dawood’s family, Shahzada has always been interested in exploring different natural habitat and has made his presence known in both the United Nations and Oxford Union. 

He has a deep interest in photography and has always been affectionate towards animal. He owns two pets, a dog named Stig and a cat named Proteus who along with his family reside under the same roof. 

Shahzada is also a supporter of two charities founded by King Charles - the British Asian Trust and the Prince's Trust International.

"Thoughts and prayers are with all those onboard," said a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, before revealing that King Charles has requested to be kept updated on the ongoing rescue operations. 

Shahzada’s son Suleman is a teenager finishing off his school and has keen interest in science fiction literature, solving Rubiks cubes, and playing volleyball. 

“We are very grateful for the concern being shown by our colleagues and friends and would like to request everyone to pray for their safety,’ said the Dawood family.
