Doha, Qatar: The CBSE Qatar Cluster Chess Tournament 2023-2024 for girls and boys was conducted on May 14-15 in 4 categories.
The Girls’ under-17 team of MES Indian School comprised of Vandana Saji Kumar (XI), Khadija Ahmed (X), Irene E Paul (X) and Noureen Abdulla (IX) excelled in the tournament by bagging the Gold medal.
The under-11 and under-19 girls’ teams won Bronze medals, while the boys emerged second runner up in under-11, 17 and 19 clinching Bronze medals to their tally, thus garnering an aggregate of 24 medals (4 Gold and 20 Bronze Medals) in the tournament.
With this win, the Girls’ under-17 chess team of MES has qualified to represent the school in the nationals to be held in India later this year. Mohamed Navas M I, Gigi P Abraham and Mariam Sameer, teachers from the Department of Physical Education trained the students.
Dr. Hameeda Kadar, principal of the school congratulated the winners for their creditable performances and achievements.
