Man jailed for supermarket theft

DOHA: A criminal court has sentenced a Sudanese to six months in jail for stealing QR10,000 from a supermarket in Al Shahaniya and ordered his deportation after he has served the term.
Police caught him after seeing CCTV camera the footage in the outlet. The shopkeeper told police he had left without locking the door properly for Friday prayer.
When he returned, he did not realise that his shop had  been  burgled. But after a few hours he came to know that QR10,000, currency notes of some other GCC countries and mobile recharge cards were missing.
The footage showed the convict in a department on the first floor, but he disappeared as the outlet closed. He got down with the crowd and paid at a cash counter for the commodities he bought.
