Doha: Al Sadd’s head coach Hussain Amute picked up his second Manager-of-the-Month award this season for the month of April.
Despite dropping another QSL title to arch rivals Lekhwiya, his team had a good showing as they went into the final few games.
This month Amute supervised his side to three wins in as many games.
The ‘Wolves’ made light work of an unconvincing Al Gharafa side that had just parted ways with their head coach, Marcos Paqueta.
Then they faced off against El Jaish who they dispatched with surprising ease (5-2) and lastly they had to navigate a tricky tie against Shamal, which they won 2-0.
They scored an astonishing 12 goals and only conceded three times in two matches. Al Sadd created 14 chances, and conceded 12 chances per game.
They had an average of 453 passes per game, which clearly indicates they executed their usual excellent passing game and domination of the ball.
They also averaged 22 penalty area entries per game in April – which shows they were also using their possession with intent by putting the ball into dangerous areas.
Meanwhile, Al Khor’s Brazilian striker Julio Cesar has been presented with the Player-of-the-Month award.
Cesar has been integral to Al Khor’s attacking line and the club’s subsequent good end to the second half of the season.
This month the forward has managed to maintain a 1.7 goals average per game.
In addition, he also won the Goal-of-the-Round award after a nifty touch for his equalising goal against Al Kharaitiyat in round 24 of the QSL.
Cesar scored five goals besides providing one assist this month.
These facts underline his importance to the club and fans alike; add to this, his positive attitude and hardworking nature and he really is a player that Al Khor cannot afford to lose.
The Brazilian finisher also has a knack for scoring important goals, having scored the opening goal on one occasion and an important equaliser against mid-table rivals Al Kharaitiyat; his other goals this month have put the results of matches beyond doubt too.
This season Cesar has been his club’s top scorer by a long way, having scored 16 goals with only one coming from the penalty spot. He is among the top 5 scorers for the season.
With 3.3 shots and 4 penalty area entries per game he is a direct, no nonsense forward, very much in mold of a classic English number 9. THE PENINSULA
