New York: Minister of Social Development and Family H E Mariam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad met with a number of ministers responsible for family and social development, as well as UN officials, on the sidelines of her participation in the 66th session of the UN Economic and Social Council’s Commission on the Status of Women. The session is taking place in New York.
The Minister met separately with Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran H E Dr. Ensieh KhazAli; Minister of Women and the Protection of Early Childhood in the Republic of Chad, H E Amina Priscille; Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development of the Republic of Uganda, H E Amongi Betty; Minister of Welfare of the Republic of Latvia H E Gatis Eglitis; Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs H E Liu Zhenmin; Executive Director of UN Women H E Sima Bahous; and President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council H E Collen Vixen.

The meetings dealt with reviewing opportunities for joint cooperation in the social, family affairs, and women fields, in addition to the means to enhance them.
The meetings also discussed the main topics on the agenda of the 66th session of the UN Economic and Social Council’s Commission on the Status of Women, and the views regarding the resolutions and outcomes of the meeting.
