Jordan eases Covid-19 restrictions as Ramadan approaches

Amman - The Jordanian government decided Monday to ease restrictions on individuals and facilities imposed by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as the blessed month of Ramadan approaches.

During a meeting held on Sunday, Minister of State for Information Affairs and Official Spokesperson for the Jordanian Government Faisal Shboul said that the amendment of defense orders with the aim of easing restrictions on individuals and facilities, come based on the recommendations of the Jordanian National Committee for Epidemics, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.

According to Shboul, the amendments include the abolition of social distancing in mosques and places of worship with the obligation to wear the masks, the abolition of the obligation to wear masks in open spaces, and the wearing of masks in closed gatherings.

The amendments also include canceling the conditions for determining the absorptive capacity in indoor and outdoor gatherings, especially wedding halls and restaurants, as well as allowing Ramadan tents and tables to be set up.
