Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) is implementing a temporary closure on the existing two-lane dual carriageway leading from Legtaifiya Lagoon (Lagoona Mall side) to the South Canal Crossing towards Doha, for 300 metres in each direction, as shown in the attached map. The closure starts on Thursday March 24, and will end in December 2017.
During this period, southbound traffic (to Doha) will be diverted to a temporary one-way road that was constructed east of the closed road near the location of the Pearl Interchange that will be constructed in the future, and which is leads to the south via the new roundabout in front of Lagoona Mall. The northbound traffic (to Lagoona Mall) will be diverted to Lusail Street, as shown in the attached map.
Ashghal will also be closing the existing 150m long four-lane dual carriageway leading from the traffic signalised junction at the Lusail Street to Lagoona Mall, while diverting the traffic to a two-lane one-way road leading to the new roundabout in front of the Lagoona Mall, as shown in the attached map.
This closure is required to complete construction works of key parts of the Lusail Expressway, in addition to expanding the Lusail Expressway from 4 to 12 lanes including 8 lanes being part of a tunnel, and replacing utility lines under the road such as electricity cables, water lines, and DSSS systems.
