Doha: The first meeting of the teams assigned by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and Qatar University to discuss aspects to further enhance their cooperation and partnership was held yesterday.
The meeting was chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry, Fawzia Abdulaziz Al Khater, and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Qatar University, Dr. Omar Al Ansari.
During the meeting, the tasks and terms of reference of the departments of the educational affairs sector, the Center for Training and Educational Development at the Ministry, and the Department of Educational Policies and Research were introduced.
Many proposals were made regarding the areas of cooperation, partnership and exchange of experiences between the Ministry and the university in the educational field.
During the meeting, Fawzia Al Khater praised the continuous cooperation between the two entities, and stressed that Qatar University was the home of national expertise.
She expressed her hope about further strengthening cooperation and coordination between the ministry and the university to develop the educational system in the country.
She made many proposals including those related to the academic programmes offered by the College of Education, the creation of new paths, support for students in schools, the distillation of teaching jobs, and cooperation in the field of curricula.
Hessa Al Aali, Director of the Center for Training and Educational Development, also put forward proposals related to training programmes, professional development and exchange of experiences.
Nouf Al Kaabi, Director of the Educational Policy and Research Department, also made a number of proposals in the field of scientific research and the field of educational statistics.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Omar Al Ansari expressed his happiness with the interests taken by the ministry’s various agencies and departments, stressing the extended partnership between the two sides, especially between the College of Education and the Ministry.
He said the College of Education was in the service of the educational system and there is a mutual need for sharing experiences and knowledge, which is in the interest of the educational system in the State of Qatar.
It was agreed to hold more meetings between the two parties to discuss the proposed proposals and define priorities.
