Senior Member of the iconic Birla Family, leading philanthropist and linguist Jayashree Mohta; Illustrious educationalist, Pranab Mukherjee, R K Dalmia, senior governing member and other distinguished guests honoured Birla Public School with their presence yesterday.

Recollecting the moments of inauguration of the school in the year 2004, she recorded her immense gratitude to the patron Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for his constant support and encouragement and for providing a singular opportunity to grow and prosper.

After a solicitous welcome in the Main Campus, the renowned guests were taken on a tour of the school accompanied by Lukose K Chacko, Chairman; Gope Shahani, Vice Chairman and other eminent management members. The guided tour was much appreciated by them. Jayashree Mohta observed on all the remarkable changes and progress achieved by the school since her earlier visit in the year 2012.  

In a special program arranged by the Sustainable Development Goals Committee of the school, the guests were entertained with a plethora of informative and entertaining performances in the auditorium.  

Shijo Pullen, secondary school teacher of English, channeled the audience through the function. A musical ensemble led by the school choir was followed by a description presented by Hamna Fathima, Student Campus Correspondent, on the subsequent dance presentation which was related to SDG. The performances regaled the guests providing them the opportunity to experience the creative skills of talented and socially proactive Birlites.

Addressing the audience, Chairman Lukose K Chacko said, “What you had given us fifteen years ago, we have increased manifold.” With these words he dedicated the prosperous growth of the school to the greatness of the magnificent Birla family. In an evocative and informative speech, Pranab Mukherjee, spoke extensively on the ‘five finger exercise’, encouraging the students, “to always ask difficult questions”.

This was further reiterated by Jayashree Mohta, who continued, in her speech, to appreciate the inter-mingling of updated modern technology with noble values, viably present in every corner of the school.

Talking to the teachers in the afternoon Pranab directed attention on the changing face of the twenty-first century education, applauding the teachers for keeping abreast of all the day to day developments in the field of pedagogy, insisting that earnest pedagogues will always be the foundation of any powerful society.
