Assad chooses revenge over talks

“Bashar Al Assad’s regime learned a good lesson from the revolution, and if it would remain in power after negotiations with the opposition, it will not rule by using its old ruthless intelligence techniques.”
Lately, we have been listening to these lies and exaggerations from Al Assad’s allies who wish for a political solution between the Syrian regime and the rebels. We often hear these statements from Russian and Iranian representatives.
However, can we believe such promises? Of course NOT. Anyone who is naïve enough to believe them should only blame oneself because the experiences of the past few decades tell us that the nature of the Syrian regime and its bloody criminal administration is to use brutal force to subdue and intimidate the Syrian population. The one who said, “The sheep should never feel safe near the wolf regardless of its sweet assurances,” has spoken the truth.
Dear Syrians, if the Syrian regime regains full sovereignty with a new constitution, know that it will not rule you in a better way as promised by the deceptive talkers. Instead, it will take revenge from all those who pointed guns at it in the past, in an unmerciful and horrifying manner.
How can the regime forgive those who fought against it? It burnt, confiscated, and tracked down journalists and peaceful adversaries that only fought back with words. They were charged with ridiculous accusations of terrorism, creating segregation bombs and digging trenches, all by influence. Therefore, the government severely punished them by attacking their families and confiscating their properties just because they were related to revolutionaries.
Let us remember the laws issued by the Syrian government against the Muslim Brotherhood, like Article 49 that allowed the regime to take possession of all their properties in Syria. According to the same law and after overpowering the organisation, the ruler had the right to give death sentence to anyone who claimed to be one of its members or supporters.
This law is still in effect regardless of the Syrian revolution. If the regime returns under a new pretext, it will issue many similar laws against the opposition, even verbal directions.
In order to clear the air on the aforesaid “biased” statements, let us read what the Syrian government and its entourage say. Despite all their defeats, Bashar Al Assad and his local and foreign supporters are still insisting on a military solution against the opposition. This was confirmed by Syria’s UN envoy Al Akhdar Al Ibrahimi in a BBC interview. He said: “Bashar and his followers do not believe in peaceful dialogues with the opposition. They are committed to bury the resistance movement by force.”
Just recently, a senior Syrian security officer said that “the regime has the capacity to resist for at least the next ten years and it is confident that it will overpower the revolution.
At that time, it will condemn the opposition and blame it for destroying Syria; while it will have the legitimate right to continue implementing its strict laws because it would have overcome ‘terrorism’ and saved the Syrian people from its evil.”
Just remember that the current regime destroyed a nation called “Syria” and has displaced it population to remain in authority.  Therefore, how do we expect it to serve Syrians’ interest when it regains control over them?
